SUSAN G. KOMEN BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION
GRANT AWARDS CEREMONY

The annual grant ceremony was celebrated with powerful meanings at the Joan Kroc Peace and Justice Center at the University of San Diego on April 4, 2007. In a program entitled “One Promise, two sisters”, the history of the movement was presented, leading to every major advance in the fight against breast cancer being touched in some way by a Komen Grant.

More than twenty grants totaling $768,000 were awarded to major organizations in San Diego, and the Asian Pacific Health Center was one among the recipients. The APHC is on its 3rd year cooperating with the Susan G Komen for the Cure Organization to work on Breast Cancer Early Detection for women and men. In the first year, two cancers and several benign masses were detected at the center, which also offers free mammograms and PAP smears to eligible patients through the Cancer Detection Program of the State of California.

Our most sincere thanks to the organizers of the evening, especially Laura Farmer, Director of communications, Tracy Richey, Executive Director, and Brandee Goedecke, Development Assistant. Present from the APHC were: Dr Ton Tran, Medical Director, Binh Tran, Executive Director, and Cadence Hsiao, Coordinator.
